People who visit my art fair booth often ask if they can put a battery candle inside my fabric ginger jars to create a lamp. I tell them that two layers of fabric plus heavy interfacing make the ginger jars opaque.
But years ago I did make see-through fishbowl vases using lightweight interfacing and only one layer of fabric. I wondered if I could do the same using the ginger jar shape and different materials.
After experimenting for several weeks, I finally came up with a ginger jar that is sheer enough for light to shine through.
Here are my first two; the colorful one is made with embroidered tulle and the cream-colored one is also tulle with ribbon embroidery. Flat glass beads weight down the very light vase and the candle is nestled among the beads.

These are so beautiful!
